meetMILK® button collection - simple and uncomplicated.
Our buttons are made of Corozo, which is a natural material derived from the nuts of the Tagua tree, that grows in the equatorial rainforests of central America. When the nuts ripen on the tree, they fall to the ground naturally, so harvesting literally means picking them up from the ground, which further means, that the trees are not damaged or cut down to get the nuts.
Corozo buttons are known to have excellent durability and scratch resistance, due to the hardness and compact texture of the fibre.
You can see the slightly grainy and natural appearance of the fibre texture in the surface, making each button unique.
Raw Corozo fibre has a porous surface, which makes it a prime material to dye. The dye is allowed to reach deep into the fibre, and the fibre binds the colour very well. This means that Corozo can be dyed with low impact dye that does not contain toxic chemicals or mordants. They require less rinsing (hence less waste water) with a high absorption rate in the fibre, so less colour is needed.
It is also a very strong material that can withstand both washing, ironing, dry cleaning and, of course, to be worn and used.
Classic and simple with a semi-matte finish, they have a plain flat surface and a slightly rounded back.
