2022, what a year! Can you believe the year is at an end? I'm sure time flies faster as you get older!!

Naturally, the end of the year provides a good time to reflect, and 2022 certainly gave me a lot to think about!

I opened A KIND CLOTH as a small business during the pandemic lockdown. Like many small businesses, it was never about creating a business to make profit, but about creating awareness and accessibility to contributing towards sustainable living.

Early on in 2022 saw prolonged issues with supply chains worldwide across many materials, from cardboard to cotton. This naturally led to price increases over many sectors. The year also saw a worrying time with the cost of living crisis, continuing on today. For many, just thinking about living sustainably was/is not an option. Survival is the aim. Unlike the big conglomerates, we understand how difficult this is, and how the smallest of actions can really help. And so, we chose not to raise our prices accordingly. The only price increases we made were from certain brands by which we are contracted to sell by.

In making these decisions, many of the plans I had in mind for A KIND CLOTH for this year were never brought to fruition. So many plans for all these beautiful fabrics and wonderful technologies to reduce our impact on the planet! Unfortunately, the risk of growing the business proved too risky for such a turbulent time in the current climate. We cannot guarantee what will happen in 2023, but running a business is all about learning and adapting, and that is what we will continue to do as we move into the next year.

This past year has thrown many challenges in trying to grow the business, but it is with your continued support, and finding like-minded people that keeps me going. Never a day goes by that I don't feel thankful and grateful for all you wonderful people. So a huge huge thank you to you!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

May we wish you all the health and happiness for 2023!

Stay safe, stay warm, stay kind! xoxo
