USING SCRAP FABRIC PIECES

Sewing Patterns for fabric scraps (ish)

Do you enjoy sewing but don't enjoy it when you end up with lots of pieces of fabrics in various shapes and sizes?!

Here are some sewing patterns I've come across that I think are brilliant for combatting this issue.

  • The Modern Sewing Co. - Zero Waste Pouffe Firstly, I love that the author writes the "The Pouffe is only sustainable if you like it enough to use it for years, so fabric choice is crucial." This is so important! So once you find a durable fabric to use, the pouffe is a great project to put in all your tiny little scraps that you can't use for anything else. Also, even when it's full, the fabrics will decompress over time so it will always need topping up!
  • Helen's Closet Patterns - Orbit Bag This bag was designed with fabric scraps in mind. A perfect circle bag for everyday use, the design is made up of small pieces of fabric patchworked together then quilted. There are different designs to choose from, or you can even design your own with the parameters of the circle. Another great practical way to use up scraps.
  • Merchant & Mills - Carrier Bag Okay, so this isn't entirely for scraps, unless you choose to patchwork the style first, but the pattern uses less than a metre of fabric, and I know I have lots of pieces left over that are under a metre! What I love about this pattern is that it is so practical. Small enough to pop in a coat pocket to use as needed, but also cute enough to use as a daily bag with your essentials!

All the above patterns are available as PDFs only through their sites directly. (Linked in titles).

Please note that A KIND CLOTH is in no way affiliated with any of the aforementioned sewing patterns. All views expressed are of personal opinion. Supporting independent businesses for a more sustainable approach to sewing.

Are there any sewing patterns you use that you'd like to share?
