The word 'Khadi' is derived from 'Khaddar', a term for handspun and handwoven fabric in India. Woven out of pre-dyed yarns, or dyed after the fabric is woven as a whole. Originating from the eastern regions of the Indian subcontinent, eastern India, northeastern India and Bangladesh, though now broadly used in Pakistan and throughout India.
